FaceID Blockchain – The Future of Secure Criminal Identification with Blockchain & Face Recognition

Описание: Facial recognition technology has transitioned from experimental research to large-scale deployment across law enforcement and identity verification systems. Despite advancements in computer vision and biometric authentication, centralized criminal record databases remain vulnerable to unauthorized modification, data breaches, and integrity risks. The absence of tamper-proof verification mechanisms reduces transparency and increases the likelihood of record manipulation, thereby undermining trust in digital identity validation frameworks.

This project proposes the Blockchain-Secured Facial Identification and Criminal Records Authentication System (BFI-CAS), developed as a full-stack web application using Python and the Django framework in accordance with IEEE academic standards. The system integrates YOLOv8-based facial detection with OpenCV for real-time face recognition in video feeds. Detected facial data is matched against registered profiles stored within a secure database framework.

To ensure immutability and transparency, criminal record entries are protected using cryptographic hash generation and blockchain-based storage mechanisms. Each record update is validated through distributed ledger verification, enabling tamper-resistant audit trails and secure authentication workflows. The architecture supports secure identity validation for applications such as passport verification, criminal identification, and institutional security monitoring.

Administrative dashboards provide oversight of system activity, verification logs, and performance metrics, ensuring operational accountability. Designed strictly for academic and research purposes, this project demonstrates the integration of computer vision, blockchain-based record security, and full-stack web deployment for secure biometric identity authentication systems.
