I learned today that Joe Biden’s final act as president before Donald Trump was inaugurated was to commute the life sentence of Leonard Peltier, freeing him after nearly 50 years in prison. I’m not a committed campaigner for Peltier’s clemency, though I’ve been aware of his story and the case for his freedom at least since I was in high school. I was inspired to write this song on my bike ride home from work, fresh from hearing the news. No point in holding it back - here it is for you to listen.
