Saudi Arabia has executed two Bangladeshi nationals—Nazerul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar—in the Makkah region following court convictions for committing an "immoral act" inside a mosque, according to an official statement by the Saudi Ministry of Interior.

The executions have triggered diplomatic friction after the Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah confirmed that local diplomatic missions were given no advance notice or formal consular intimation regarding the trials, sentencing, or the execution date. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka submitted a formal note verbale to the Saudi government seeking an official explanation and complete case records.
