Minerals and Petroleum Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe has called on truck owners in Mpumalanga to find new ways to supply coal to power stations. He was speaking at a ceremony to mark the delivery of the first coal from the Mooifontein opencast to the Arnot Power Station in Middleburg via a conveyer belt.
The Arnot Mine was closed in 2015 and a consortium of retrenched workers and Wescoal Holdings re-opened it three years ago.
