Madras HC Allows Contempt Plea Against Tamil Nadu Vigilance For Not Filing FIR On K N Nehru

Описание: The Madras High Court has allowed a contempt petition to be filed against the Tamil Nadu Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department for failing to register an FIR against state minister K N Nehru. Six days after the High Court ordered the department to file a case against the minister in connection with an alleged cash-for-jobs scam involving 356 crore rupees, no action has been taken. The petitioner states that the court clearly directed the case to be registered within the fourth week, but the Vigilance Department has not complied. The petitioner's advocate mentioned the matter before the Chief Justice Court, which has now permitted filing a contempt petition. The Enforcement Directorate had earlier written to the Tamil Nadu DGP with evidence regarding the alleged scam. BJP spokesperson Vinod Peace album called this the tip of the iceberg, alleging widespread corruption in the DMK administration. The petitioner noted that nearly 5000 contempt cases are pending against the Tamil Nadu government. ED Director Rahul Naveen is scheduled for a three-day visit to Chennai to review case progress.
