It's Fat Tuesday! In this pancake day and shrove Tuesday video, the Urban Juniors are celebrating pancake day with some colourful pancakes that you can make yourself at home with some very basic ingredients.
The colourful pancake batter is very easy to make. Adding some food colouring turns the pancakes a different colour.
This was so much fun to film. We hope you enjoy it too. We stacked up the pancakes as high as we could before they tipped over. How many can you stack up?
First we had to make a big batch of delicious pancake batter. Then we added the food colouring to turn the pancakes from a golden yellow to a colourful rainbow.
Watch our shrove Tuesday pancake day video for the recipe and to see how we topped them off with nutella and maple syrup toppings before eating all of them. Yum! Only on pancake day!
When stacked up the pancakes turn into a stack of yummy rainbow pancakes.
So what is shrove Tuesday?
Pancake day is 47 days before Easter and its the week before ash Wednesday. It is the first day of lent. So it's the last chance to tuck into tasty treats before that would usually be given up for lent. That's why it is also known as Fat Tuesday.
In other parts of the world pancake day is known as Mardi Gras which means Fat Tuesday! The street festvals of Brazil and new Orleans are probably the most well known Mardi Gras festivals.
So why do we eat pancakes on this day?
Well it is believed that way back in the 15th century a Buckinghamshire woman ran down the street for confession forgetting that she had a frying pan with pancakes in her hand.
