Описание: On 6 March 1985, ITN's Nik Gowing reported on the rise of the French National Front (Front National, FN), the far-right political force headed by the divisive figure of Jean-Marie Le Pen. Visiting the National Front's stronghold of Marseille, Gowing attended a National Front rally before asking Le Pen what he believed were the reasons behind his movement's growing appeal. In the French capital, Gowing asked the Mayor of Paris, one Jacques Chirac, whether he was concerned about Le Pen's success causing a rightward shift among French Conservatives. However calm Chirac's response, "Le Monde" editor Andre Fontaine was certain Le Pen and the National Front would continue to disrupt the French political landscape.
