WATCH: Greece Welcomes French-Built Belharra Frigate in Naval Upgrade Push

Описание: A French-built Belharra-class frigate arrived in Greece on Thursday as part of Athens’ sweeping effort to modernise its armed forces amid rising regional tensions. The warship, one of four ordered from France, docked at the Salamina naval base after being escorted by historic and ceremonial vessels, including the armoured cruiser Georgios Averof and a recreated ancient Greek trireme. Greece agreed in 2021 to procure three Belharra frigates in a deal worth around €3 billion, with a fourth vessel ordered in 2025. The acquisitions form part of a broader defence modernisation plan, with Athens expected to spend approximately €28 billion by 2036 to upgrade its military capabilities.
