Trade and Industry Minister Honorable Kahinda Otafiire has ordered the immediate relocation of people still living on the slopes of Mt Elgon. An inspection of the the area has shown cracks on the mountain that pose great danger to residents living there. Over 8000 residents will be affected by the minister's directive. Otafiire made the order at a meeting with officials from the Uganda Wildlife Authority in Mbale.
