My mini milling machine just do not have enough power to be able to drive a fly cutter or face mill. When I tried to use one, my milling machine threw a fit and stripped its plastic gears.
In this video I am building a belt drive conversion with a difference. It features four speeds, giving me a range from ultra-slow with double the spindle torque, all the way up to high speeds for small endmills. The best part? The original motor control board works perfectly with the new belt drive—without even knowing it’s there.
