After 6.5 years, 65+ countries, and a lifetime of memories, the moment of truth is finally here. We’ve been back on US soil for a few weeks, but our hearts (and our entire home) have been floating somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic.

Shipping a van from South Africa to Jacksonville, Florida, isn't just a logistical challenge—it’s a nerve-wracking waiting game. Our Mercedes Sprinter has spent the last 42 days navigating high-risk ports, including a stop in Jamaica, where the threat of theft and break-ins kept us up at night. We put every security measure we could think of into place before she set sail, but will it be enough to protect everything we own?
