Most patients experience little to no pain after a skin biopsy. In this video, Dr. Colin Hong, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Toronto, explains what level of discomfort is normal and how long it typically lasts.
Because the biopsy is small and performed under local anesthesia, soreness is usually mild and short-lived. Patients may feel slight tenderness, pressure, or sensitivity around the site for a day or two. Over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol is more than enough for most people. Dr. Hong also explains signs that may indicate abnormal pain, such as increasing redness or swelling.
This video helps patients feel reassured and prepared for recovery, knowing what sensations to expect.
