Summer is in high gear at John Wayne Airport (SNA) with flights ferrying passengers to their summer vacations within California, out of state, and at Disneyland. Today's plane spotting adventure, using our OC AirPass, is unique thanks to N596AS, Alaska's "Tiana's Bayou Adventure" Boeing 737-800 AND the retirement of captain Don Holmes after 36 years of service with Alaska Airlines. He was even one of the most senior Los Angeles based pilots in the Alaska Airlines system. Don's final flight is Alaska Airlines flight 1084, operated by a Boeing 737-800 (N597AS) from Portland (PDX) to Santa Ana (SNA). We take a moment to honor captain Holmes and thank him for his service with Alaska Airlines before spotting even more flights.
Fun Fact: AS 1084 (PDX-SNA) is the first retirement flight I spotted.
