Lingashtakam Tutorial

Описание: The Lingashtakam is a sloka composed by Saint Adi Shankara glorifying Lord Shiva in the Lingam (ellipsoid) Form. It has eight paragraphs and is largely based on Raga Shivaranjani.

In this video, we will learn further details about the composition and also learn how to play the sloka on the Harmonium 🎹, but can be applied to other instruments as well 🪗🎻🎸.

Full notation is available in both Indian and Western for different pitches / keys. Comment below for full notes.

~~ 🚩~~ Please note that for ease of understanding, we will follow only 2 categories in each swara. For e.g., G2, G3, N2 and N3 of Carnatic music will be considered as G1, G2, N1 and N2 only.

As an aid to beginners, here are the Western notes of the raga in three pitches:

🎼 Raga Shivaranjani
Arohanam: S R2 G1 P D2 Ś Avarohanam: Ś D2 P G1 R2 S
(also uses Ga2 occasionally)

In Key of G#: G# B♭ B E♭ F Ġ#; Ġ# F E♭ B B♭ G# (Ga2 is C)
In Key of C: C D E♭ G A Ć; Ć A G E♭ D C (Ga2 is E)
In Key of F: F G G# C D F (upper); F(upper) D C G# G F (Ga2 is A)
