How strong are “500 kg / 1100lb” rated straps in real life?
In this pull test, we compare a 500 kg cam buckle strap and a 500 kg ratchet strap under the same conditions.
Both straps are anchored at both ends, looped around a hook, and pulled until failure using a hydraulic test rig.
🔹 Cam buckle strap failed at 1140 kg (2510 lbs)
🔹 Ratchet strap failed at the stitched hook connection
Same rating. Very different failure points.
