What a way to ring in another year! This morning’s shave was a proper celebration – a birthday shave.

Time to lather up with Hoffman's Burn The Ships. Seriously, what a phenomenal scent! It’s uncanny how well Hoffman’s captures that classic Old Spice vibe. I mean, it’s January 18th - the very day I was born! And Old Spice was the scent back then, and still holds a special place. The lather built up wonderfully in my Shulton Old Spice Grand Turk mug, a real piece of shaving history, and loaded beautifully onto the Everready C40 brush.

The Gillette 1961 Fatboy felt fantastic in hand, and with a fresh Gillette 7 o’clock Green blade (a one-and-done for sure), it just glided across my skin. Two passes were all it took for a supremely comfortable and incredibly close shave – BBS perfection, without a hint of irritation. It’s amazing how a well-tuned adjustable razor can just dial in the perfect balance of comfort and efficiency.

Following up with the Burn The Ships aftershave and a touch of the 'Broken'face oil, and finishing with Burn The Ships EdP, well, let’s just say I’m smelling pretty good and nostalgic today! The combination of scents is just intoxicating. It’s a scent profile that takes me back in time, and makes every shave feel a little more special. I might just need to spend the day enjoying the scent.

A truly fantastic shave to celebrate 65 years! It’s moments like these that remind me why I love this hobby so much – the ritual, the scents, and the satisfaction of a perfectly executed shave. Happy Birthday to me!
