Voici une cover d'un songwriter que j'apprécie énormément depuis mes débuts : STING.

Des premiers disques du groupe "The Police" jusqu'aux plus récents albums de son extraordinaire carrière solo, j'ai écouté cet immense artiste avec toujours autant de plaisir et d'admiration pour ses chansons.

Je me suis écorché un bon nombre de fois les cordes vocales en essayant de reprendre "So lonely", "Message in a bottle" ou encore "If I ever lose my faith in you"...

La majorité de ses hits sont "inchantables" pour le commun des mortels tant sa signature vocale et sa tessiture haut perchée sont uniques et particulières.

"Mad about you" fait partie des morceaux de Sting que je préfère, avec ses sonorités venues d'Orient et ses superbes progressions harmoniques...
Il figure sur son album "The soul cages" sorti en 1991.

Je vous propose ici une version "session acoustique" : guitare / voix / percussions.
Je me suis permis de changer la tonalité d'origine et pour la partie guitare de l'intro je me suis inspiré de la version d'Alexey Nosov, que j'ai également adaptée "à ma sauce". (Pour les guitaristes: je suis accordé en drop D, capo IV)

J'utilise un pédalier "Looper" pour la partie percussion et le riff d'intro qui revient en boucle à différents moments du morceau.
De temps en temps j'ajoute des choeurs avec un harmoniseur vocal pour agrémenter certains passages...

Here is a cover of a songwriter that I have greatly appreciated since my beginnings: STING.

From the first records of the group "The Police" to the most recent albums of his extraordinary solo career, I have listened to this great artist with as much pleasure and admiration for his songs as ever.

I scratched my vocal cords quite a few times trying to cover "So lonely", "Message in a bottle" or even "If I ever lose my faith in you"...

The majority of his hits are "unsingable" for ordinary mortals as his vocal signature and his high pitched range are unique and particular.

"Mad about you" is one of my favorite Sting songs, with its sounds from the Orient and its superb harmonic progressions...
It appears on his album "The soul cages" released in 1991.

I offer you here an "acoustic session" version: guitar / voice / percussion.
I took the liberty of changing the original key and for the guitar part of the intro I was inspired by Alexey Nosov's version, which I also adapted "to my own taste". (For guitarists: I am tuned in drop D, capo IV)

I use a “Looper” pedalboard for the percussion part and the intro riff which loops at different points in the song.
From time to time I add backing vocals with a vocal harmonizer to enhance certain passages...
