I wanted an easy way to play my backed up GameCube games on original hardware, so I decided to use a save exploit to run the Swiss homebrew app and to load them.
This is the easiest way to run homebrew, but since it requires a real game disk, you need to have a working optical drive.
If you don't have a homebrewed Wii or similar means of getting the exploit onto the memory card, there are places that sell memory cards with the exploits on them. I haven't used them, but I know some people who swear by them.

Materials Required
GameCube w/ working disk drive
GameCube Memory Card w/
exploit save file and Swiss in .gci format OR
Wii with GCMM, downloaded exploit save file, and Swiss
SD Card adapter for GameCube (GC2SD or SD2SP2)
Game disk for exploited game save (in my case Zelda: Wind Waker)
