A glorious summer day with two steam charters scheduled. West Coast Railways have no steam loco available - so diesel power is substituted. Locomotive Services Ltd provide the magnificent Blue Peter for Saphos Trains' "The Lakelander - BUT - its original return route is unavailable because of the ongoing work in Corkickle tunnel - AND - the ongoing risk of lineside fires due to the prolonged hot dry weather has led to not one but two diesels being included in the consist. How much work was Blue Peter actually doing?
Ah well - the weather was wonderful, the scenery superb and I had good company for the day. Let's not carp!
