Jaw mobility is a big deal when it comes to better balance.
The jaw is inner seed by the trigeminal nerve, cranial nerve #5. The trigeminal nerve is a big nerve, with 3 branches (jaw line, cheekbone, above eyebrows).
The trigeminal nerve transmits both sensory and motor signals.
It innervates all of your teeth.
It is located in the pons in the brain stem. The pons is responsible for extensor function. Standing upright with good posture is enhanced with pons activation.
I suggest stroking the skin on the 3 branches and then do the jaw mobility exercises.
Open mouth halfway.
1. Slide lower jaw side to side
2. Slide lower jaw front to back
3. Do 3 horizontal circles in each direction.
As in all things brain-related, do an assessment before this drill and then the same assessment afterward.
You might want test balance as pons activation can improve balance.
Movement is life.
Train for life.
Train your brain.
