Wish you had a wood front door? But, it’s not in your budget?? Well, thanks to Pinterest I’m now a pro at DIYing & know how to make a burning basic door look like a wood door!
I have a small clue on what I’m doing but rest assured.. iv seen a hundred tutorials lol.
I didn’t prime the door.. Disclaimer.. we eventually want a new door, so I didn’t care if screwed up.. & if you screw up, just paint over it.
Steps:
1. Clean the door & tape off any windows and handles.
2. Prime or don’t prime
3. Coat with a base color. I chose the trim color I was putting in our house. It’s Shiitaki from Sherwin Williams.
4. Apply a gel wood stain. I used the color Aged Oak. I used a regular paint brush.. some people use larger stain brushed for bigger strokes. Personally, I loved how it turned out with the normal brush. Looks more real.
5. Once dry & you achieve the color you’re wanting.. add a Stain clear finish coat using a stain sponge.

•Primer

•Clear Stain finish
