Exploring Ahobilam: A Trekker's Paradise and Spiritual Place in Andhra Pradesh

Описание: Ahobilam is the last destination in the this edition of road trip to Andhra Pradesh. We left Gandikota in the evening and reached Ahobilam in the night. Ahobilam is located about 80 Kms away from Gandikota and is about 405 Km via NH 44. On way we were searching for a hotel to stay and we decided to stay at Narahari Guest House. Next day early morning we checked out and left for Narashima Swamy temples located at Lower Ahobilam and Upper Ahobilam. It is located inside Nallamalla forests of the Eastern Ghats. It is a trekking paradise and very import spiritual place for Hindus.

At Lower Ahobilam you can take darshan at Sri Lakshmi Narashima temple and then trek another 8 Km to reach Upper Ahobilam where you can take darshan at Jwala Narashima temple. It is the place where Narashima killed Hiranakasphyapu. From there you can take a further difficult trek to go and see Ugra stambha. It is the place where god Vishnu came out of a pillar in Narashima avatar. In total there 9 temples dedicated to Narashima in a 5 sq km. To see all of them might take about 2 days.
