Winter storm brings heavy snow to St. Louis area Thursday

A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect for the entire St. Louis, Missouri, area until Thursday afternoon. Additional snowfall accumulation of up to 8 inches is possible through early afternoon Thursday. Some areas in the St. Louis metro reported seeing as much as 6 inches by 7 a.m.
Thursday starts off with snow and blowing snow and temperatures in the teens. High temperatures will top out in the 20s, but gusty winds will mean wind chills stay in the single digits. Winds will gust anywhere from 25 mph to 35 mph, which will reduce visibility through the day and create hazardous conditions on area roadways.
Snow is expected to come to an end by Thursday afternoon and evening with areas in the St. Louis area picking up an additional 4" - 8". Some areas south of St. Louis, could see snowfall linger into the first part of the overnight hours. Temperatures will plummet overnight with temperatures falling into the single digits and wind chills below zero.
Weekend temperatures do rebound with highs climbing back into the 30s and 40s and dry weather is expected over the next 7 days after today's snow. #STLwx #WinterStorm #StLouis
