Photographers capture the dramatic moment a lion cub is rescued from plunging into the water by its mum.

Laurent Renaud and Dominique Haution, both 62, from Douai, France, watched in fear as they thought the sweet lion cub wasn't going to make it back up the steep bank as it went down for a drink.

Luckily, the female lion came to her cubs' rescue to stop him from falling backwards into the water.

The pair witnessed the stressful ordeal in September during a visit to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.
