Welcome to Fit After 50! In this video, I’m breaking down the exact 3-day workout split that has completely transformed how I train in my 50s. If you’re a man over 50 looking to build muscle, protect your joints, and still make progress without burning out — this plan is for you.
This isn’t theory — it’s how I train right now, using smart recovery, joint-friendly exercises, and my proven 3-set method. Whether you’re new to weight training after 50 or just looking to level up your results, this is a muscle-building routine designed for longevity.

Weekly Workout Split for Men Over 50:
Monday – Chest, Calves, Abs
Wednesday – Back, Triceps, Biceps
Friday – Shoulders, Legs
Plus daily walking (except Saturday)
My 3-Set Method:
• Set 1: Light warm-up
• Set 2: 12–15 reps, just shy of failure
• Set 3: Drop set — 2 quick drops, each to failure
Rest periods:
• 30–45 seconds (light sets)
• 75–90 seconds (working sets)
Why this plan works for men over 50:
• Focus on muscle recovery and growth
• Trains each muscle once every 6–7 days
• Avoids overtraining and injury
• Builds muscle after 50 with minimal joint stress
