CNER have completed the first two studies in the effort to extend the East Coast Main Line north to Fraserburgh and Peterhead. See the results here, and help us move on to the DOA!
Once the Detailed Options Appraisal is concluded, the three studies will together form a complete 'Strategic Business Case' as defined by the Scottish Government's STAG Criteria. It is with this that we hope to go into the campaign for Holyrood's May 2026 election, asking our wannabe MSPs to agree that the overall result is positive (hopefully), and that this next period of parliament is the time for the Buchan Rail Link to gain parliamentary approval, and thus Transport Scotland should pick up the project and progress it swiftly through Outline Business Case and Final Business Case stages.
