Описание: Kawagoe (川越), often referred to as "Little Edo," is a historic town located in Saitama Prefecture, just 30 minutes by train from central Tokyo. Kurazukuri Street, Kawagoe's main street, is renowned for its well-preserved Kurazukuri buildings, which are traditional clay-walled warehouse-style structures that provides a glimpse of Japan's Edo Period (1603-1867). This historic town was a vital supplier of commodities to Tokyo, then known as Edo, and played a significant role in trade and strategic purposes during the Edo Period. Kashiya Yokochō (Candy Alley) offers a variety of treats, including the local specialty, sweet potato ice cream. The town is also home to the iconic Toki no Kane bell tower, a symbol of Kawagoe that dates back to the 1600s, although the current structure is a reconstruction following the Great Kawagoe Fire of 1893. Visitors can also explore the Kitain Temple, which houses the only remaining structures of the former Edo Castle.
