The Gloria Record - "A Lull In Traffic" (Acoustic)

Описание: This past Friday, we announced the reissue of The Gloria Record’s Lull In Traffic EP. That night I found myself working up an acoustic arrangement of the title track in the midst of an impressive Texas Spring thunderstorm. I turned the lights down low in the house so the storm could do the talking outside the windows (and it did…) This song was written as an anthem against what I feared at 25 would be a homogenization of my life in the coming decade. I was trying to define, for myself, what failure would look like to me so I could hopefully avoid it. Sometimes all you have to go on is knowing what you DON’T want. Turns out the better part of that next decade I was working as a courier, spending half what I made on (or at least in) my car, and a good deal of my time at red lights.  At 45 I can finally start to see what it is I DO want my life to look like. It hasn’t always been an easy road, but I am happily off of it now, embedded in the present moment and cultivating the love I so dearly want to give to the people in my life. At the end of the video you can hear my 7-year old son come downstairs saying he was scared, having been awoken by the storm. I took him back to bed and as I laid with him a while he asked me if I knew what the thunder and lightning were, or how they happened. I gave him the closest thing I could muster to a scientific explanation of the phenomena. He told me that he liked to think of the thunder as all the people who have died before running around again, and the lightning as God taking pictures with his camera. I told him I was sure he was right. Hope you all are somewhere with someone you love. Or doing something that makes you happy. Something that makes you forget about the road for a while and enjoy the wonder of the storm. - Chris
