In this episode I visit Tlaxcala in Mexico. The city that many Mexicans say does not exist. This is because Tlaxcala with its four kingdoms chose to ally with the Spanish in the 16th century and helped create New Spain, as Mexico was called at the time. We visit the famous murals, painted by artist Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin in the government palace. These show the history of Mexico from pre-Hispanic times to later Mexican history and texts in both Nahuatl and Spanish.
The four kingdoms of Tlaxcala, also referred to as fiefdoms or señoríos, were the pre-Columbian political divisions of the Tlaxcalan state: Ocotelolco, Quiahuiztlan, Tepeticpac, and Tizatlan. These four kingdoms formed a confederation that resisted the Aztec Empire and allied with the Spanish conquistadors.
We also visit The Virgin of Ocotlán is a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ocotlán, Tlaxcala. The Virgin Mary appeared to the Franciscan friar Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541 and gave him healing water to cure plague victims in the area. The Virgin of Ocotlan is the second oldest Maria in Mexico, and the cathedral and convent, still inhabited by nuns, are famous.

Soy una cantautora y travel Youtuber de Dinamarca. ¡Estoy viajando por el mundo y esto es lo que exploro!
En este episodio visito Tlaxcala, México. La ciudad que muchos mexicanos afirman que no existe. Esto se debe a que Tlaxcala, con sus cuatro reinos, decidió aliarse con los españoles en el siglo XVI y contribuyó a la creación de la Nueva España, como se llamaba México en aquella época. Visitamos los famosos murales del artista Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin en el palacio de gobierno. Estos muestran la historia de México desde la época prehispánica hasta la historia mexicana posterior, con textos tanto en náhuatl como en español.
Los cuatro reinos de Tlaxcala, también conocidos como feudos o señoríos, fueron las divisiones políticas precolombinas del estado tlaxcalteca: Ocotelolco, Quiahuiztlán, Tepeticpac y Tizatlán. Estos cuatro reinos formaron una confederación que resistió al Imperio Azteca y se alió con los conquistadores españoles.
También visitamos la Virgen de Ocotlán, una estatua de la Santísima Virgen María en Ocotlán, Tlaxcala. La Virgen María se apareció al fraile franciscano Juan Diego Bernardino en 1541 y le dio agua curativa para curar a los apestados de la zona. La Virgen de Ocotlán es la segunda María más antigua de México, y la catedral y el convento, aún habitados por monjas, son famosos.
