Step back into the Golden Age of animation with Bosko's Parlor Pranks — beautifully remastered in stunning 4K resolution! Originally released in 1934 as part of the Happy Harmonies series by Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising, this classic MGM cartoon features Bosko in his first-ever color appearance (using the two-strip Technicolor process).
This animated short marks a historic transition as Harman and Ising moved from Warner Bros. to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, making this the first Bosko cartoon produced at MGM after parting ways with Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. Much of the animation was cleverly reused from earlier Warner Bros. shorts, and Bosko retains his original design before being later reimagined as a more distinct caricature of an African-American boy.
Plot Summary:
Bosko, full of charm, visits his sweetheart Honey and ends up babysitting her mischievous son Wilbur. As Bosko tries to entertain the boy with tall tales and musical antics, chaos and hilarity follow — especially when a long-awaited ice cream cone ends up on someone's head!
Highlights:
First Bosko cartoon in color
Early MGM animation milestone
Classic slapstick humor and musical segments
Features Bosko, Honey, Wilbur, and Bruno the dog
Rare 4K remaster for the ultimate nostalgic experience
Whether you're a vintage cartoon enthusiast or a newcomer to classic animation, this short is a must-watch gem of 1930s American animation.
