FInding the planets

Описание: Ever looked at the night sky, noticed a super-bright star and wondered if it might be a planet? Here’s how to work planet coordinates, so that you can see what it is. If you’re far from the prime meridian (that’s at zero longitude, Greenwich, UK) you’ll have to do one more little sum because what you need to find is how far the planet is from your own meridian, not the one at Greenwich. If you’re in West longitude, you do this my subtracting your longitude from the Greenwich Hour Angle of the planet to find the Local Hour Angle, and off you go. Wondering what an hour angle is? Watch the video and find out. You’ll be enlightened, and if some of our neighbours in east longitude go on increasing their interference with GPS, we might all be glad of the knowledge. What we have here is a start.
