Background
The term ‘Sacha Sauda’—meaning ‘True Business’—was originally coined by the revered Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It signifies the true purpose of human life in this mortal world: to engage in acts of selfless service and spiritual growth. In line with this philosophy, the revered Saint Shah Mastana Ji Balochistani established a socio-spiritual organization named Dera Sacha Sauda, which teaches the essence of true living without soliciting or accepting any direct or indirect donations.
The present spiritual head of the organization is Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan. On August 25, 2017, he was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment, followed by additional life sentences in 2019 and 2021, by the CBI Special Court in Panchkula.
On the day of his arrest, Haryana Police opened fire on an unarmed crowd—largely comprising elderly women and children—resulting in 42 confirmed deaths. Unofficial reports suggest the death toll may have exceeded 400, with approximately 1,000 individuals sustaining gunshot injuries.
Shockingly, none of the victims approached any court or human rights commission to seek justice for this massacre. Even more concerning was the tacit endorsement of these killings by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, alongside its leading legal professionals. This collective silence points to a deep disillusionment with the Indian judicial system and raises concerns about the potential radicalization of followers into sleeper cells aligned with anti-national forces.
In light of these developments, Dr. Mohit Insan, a former insider who was terminated from Dera in October 2015, launched a campaign titled ‘Faith vs. Verdict’ on July 18, 2018. The campaign was aimed at:
1. Reinstating the faith of Dera followers in the Indian Constitution.
2. Preventing their exploitation for any anti-national activity.
Over the next seven years, Dr. Mohit Insan steadily got support of thousands of Dera followers. However, his team also endured various challenges—albeit on a smaller scale than those faced by the Dera Chief—including criminal framing, arrests, deadly attacks, and repeated threats.
Undeterred, he now presents a comprehensive body of research on Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan and the many mysteries surrounding him, offering a collective narrative of his findings through this ongoing series.
