Midsouth soybean producers make important production and management decisions based on time of planting and developmental stage and expected maturity date of varieties.
A regional project was initiated in 2012 to produce data that can be used to predict the effects of latitude and planting date on the growth and development of a uniform set of varieties in Maturity Groups 3, 4, 5, and 6.
The study will also document the effects of latitude and planting date on disease and insect incidence, as well as on seed composition and quality. The results from this study will provide producers the information they need to make variety selections as the planting date changes at various Midsouth latitudes.
