1. Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
a. Boarded by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, and no other boards.
b. A Plastic Surgeon who has had ample experience in tummy tuck of patients with your size and BMI.
2. Accredited surgery center (Quad-A, Medicare certified) which has emergency life-safety equipment
3. Board Certified Anesthesiologist and not just a Nurse Anesthetist. This is the person that is going to carefully monitor you during surgery and makes sure that you come out of anesthesia well.
4. Appropriate pre-op medical clearance by a physician who is actively managing your medical conditions.
a. For example, you might need a cardiac stress test.
b. Or you might need evaluation with a particular specialist who knows your medical condition.
5. 24/7 caretaker for about a week, which can be an attentive family member.
a. Someone to take you to shower.
b. Someone to make sure that you and walking.
c. Someone that is going to help in case of an emergency.
6. Both you and caretaker must become familiar with the pre & post op instructions.
a. A caretaker who doesn’t know what to do can be dangerous.
7. Follow only your surgeon’s instructions, and not what’s on Google or Social Media.
a. Online, there is a lot of misinformation or even information that does not apply to your situation.
b. When in doubt, ask your surgeon or his assistant.
