In 2014, Australia was in the midst of a royal tour by Prince William and Princess Catherine.
Whether by design or coincidence, it was also the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's first visit to the antipodes.
On that visit to Australia and New Zealand, the Queen rode in 12 custom built Daimler DE36s. These cars have become collectors items for Daimler enthusiasts who have their own clubs, culture and lore.
Over the last 60 years many of these cars have had exciting lives. One of the fleet was sold to a maharajah in India, another is on a farm in middle America and one is in Mark Bearman's shed in Bunbury, Western Australia.
Mark's father Colin purchased one of the New Zealand royal tour cars in the 1970s with the aim of restoring it to its former glory.
Over the years, the car became an important part of the family. Mark has brought his across two countries, a continent and four decades.
Mark isn't a royalist as such, but he has a right royal passion for his Daimler DE36.
At the time, the Daimlers were the biggest cars ever made, handcrafted and featuring innovations such as electric windows.
In the video above, you can where Mark was up to in his remarkable restoration effort.
