Long-standing resentment over the role of the police administration in Kali Puja arrangements finally exploded in Barasat. Members of the Hariharpur United Club — the Puja organizers — clashed directly with district police personnel. The organizers alleged that the police were not allowing anyone to enter the Kali Puja pandal. This led to outrage among the club members, who questioned, “If people are not allowed to enter, then why was permission for the Puja granted in the first place?”

কালীপুজো (Kali Puja) আয়োজনে পুলিশ (Police) প্রশাসনের ভূমিকা নিয়ে দীর্ঘদিনের ক্ষোভ বিস্ফোরিত হল বারাসাতে (Barasat)। বুধবার গভীর রাতে হরিহরপুর ইউনাইটেড ক্লাবে সরাসরি সংঘর্ষে জড়ালেন পুজো আয়োজক ক্লাব সদস্যরা এবং জেলা পুলিশের কর্মীরা। অভিযোগ, পুলিশ (Police) পুজোর প্যান্ডেলের দিকে কাউকে প্রবেশ করতে দিচ্ছিল না। ফলে ক্ষোভে ফেটে পড়েন ক্লাব সদস্যরা। “যদি মানুষ ঢুকতেই না পারেন, তবে পুজোর অনুমতি দেওয়া হল কেন?”— এমনই প্রশ্ন তুলতে দেখা যায় ক্ষুব্ধ আয়োজকদের।
