I didn’t set out to make a movie. I set out to pedal.
I planned to ride an e-bike from New York City to Miami in winter — and then my bike got stolen in Washington, DC.
A documentary-style solo journey down the U.S. East Coast. What began as a winter e-bike challenge transformed into a story about theft, resilience, and the people you meet when everything goes wrong.
📍 Route: NYC → Philadelphia → Washington DC → Richmond → Savannah → Miami (~1,500 miles)
🚲 Bike: Mokwheel Bsalt e-bike (stolen in DC).
💡 The Pivot: Switched to overnight buses—saving money, resting, and meeting incredible people.
🌡️ Conditions: One of the coldest winters on record.
Day one taught me more than any training ride. I miscalculated distances, my legs revolted, and the cold was brutal. I kept filming because the people I met—bakers, students, pastors, strangers—became the point of the trip. Then, while editing at the Martin Luther King Library, I returned at 8 PM to find my bike gone. Chain cut. $3,000 of gear, vanished.
That theft forced a choice: quit or pivot. I pivoted. The journey stopped being a cycling record and became a story told between bus stations, church pews, and late-night diners. I rode less, listened more, and discovered the unexpected scaffolding of human connection.
This video shows the theft, the low points (the injured ankle, the cramps, the doubt), and the small graces: children singing spontaneously in a Virginia church, an 87-year-old sharing memories of 1940s Richmond, and conversations about gentrification, AI, and resilience that rewired the trip’s purpose.
What you’ll see:
The exact moment the plan fell apart in DC.
How I navigated logistics after a major loss.
Why overnight buses became a surprising gift.
Raw conversations that capture America in 2024.
If you’ve ever started something and watched it fall apart—this is for you.

Gear note: Mokwheel Bsalt e-bike (stolen in DC). Heavily relied on Greyhound/BoltBus after day 5. Winter kit: layers, emergency heat packs, and a resilient mindset.
If you’ve been robbed, lost gear, or had to pivot hard—drop one line below about how you handled it. I read everything.
