Описание: Was asked to make a butt plate for a rifle stock - using aluminum. Although original thickness was to be about 1/4", it was decided that some extension would be useful and so, we started with a piece of 1" think bar.... in fact fabrication time was probably not much longer, plus it was possible to incorporate a butt hook. This was bolted to the base of the plate and allows for adjustment - spacer or spacers will be made if needed for adjustment in the vertical.The bulk of the work was cutting off surplus material, followed by a large amount of time spent on a belt sander, plus various rotary sanding devices. The amount of actual machining was fairly limited. Final finish still shows some slight sanding marks although brought to a high polish - this will be quite durable and although anodizing is an option it should not be needed.. If plate thickness proves too much, we can remove some material from the back if need be.
