Westernport's Shorebirds: Winter at a secret birding spot

Описание: High tide is a great time to watch shorebirds & Westernport is the perfect location.

On this day, the high tide was at 3pm so we lugged all our gear along the beach to set up and wait to see what shorebirds would arrive & roost. The conditions were spectacular. Still and peaceful. Slightly warm, even though it was nearly winter.

As the high tide was expected to hit mid afternoon, our plan was to wait & watch. Then, after the tide started to recede, we could walk back the same way along the beach (at high tide, the beach access disappears under water). This plan turned out to be the best as the sunset that evening was amazing!!

The birds we saw this evening were:
Bar-tailed Godwit
Red-capped Plover
White-fronted Chat
Australian Pelican
Australian Pied Oystercatcher
Great Egret
Pacific Gull
Crested Tern
Double-banded Plover
(there's so many more... and I will fill in this list as Nimal tells me what they were!!)
