The first of many home builds/experiments to come! I solder up a crystal-based Colpitts oscillator. I also cut open the crystal casing to reveal the quartz crystal resonator. Finally, I use the bare crystal as a QCM (quartz crystal monitor/microbalance), and implicate it in use with vacuum deposition systems.
