Major Milestones Achieved | GMR-001 Hypercar Test Barcelona

Описание: Genesis Magma Racing closed out an intense year of development with a successful three-day test of the GMR-001 Hypercar at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Running two cars across the December 10–12 test gave the team its first opportunity to operate in a near-complete configuration, bringing together engineers, mechanics, drivers, and management to validate processes ahead of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship.

A major milestone was achieved during the test as car #17 surpassed 8,000 km of running, reaching a key reliability target for the Genesis G8MR 3.2L Turbo V8 power unit designed and built by Hyundai Motorsport.

The Barcelona test also marked an important step for the confirmed 2026 FIA WEC driver lineup. Andre Lotterer, Pipo Derani, and Mathys Jaubert shared duties in the #17 GMR-001 Hypercar, while Mathieu Jaminet, Dani Juncadella, and reserve driver Jamie Chadwick continued to gain experience in the second car. Paul-Loup Chatin, confirmed for the #19 lineup, was not cleared to drive until the new year.

With both cars running throughout the test, the focus shifted to performance optimisation, software development, and operational execution in accordance with FIA WEC technical regulations. The circuit provided representative conditions for much of the championship calendar, allowing the team to maximise data collection and collaboration.

This final test of the year brings the first chapter of the GMR-001 Hypercar program to a close. Critical milestones were achieved, systems validated, and the foundations laid for the next phase as Genesis Magma Racing looks ahead to 2026 💪
