Описание: Sugar Baby Love, written by Wayne Bickerton and Tony Waddington was the debut single by British pop band "The Rubettes" Released in January 1974 the song lay dormant for a few weeks then after an appearance on "Top of the Pops" the song hit the No.1 spot in May. "The Rubettes" went on to have more hits but "Sugar Baby Love" was their only No.1.

Played here on a Gibson Les Paul Studio 70s Tribute Guitar and Yamaha PSS F30 Keyboard, with a backing track programmed with "Chordpulse."

Sugar Baby Love has always been one of my "Guilty Pleasure" songs. Back in 1974 I was a teenager at school and me and my circle of friends were into the "Prog Rock" bands of that era. We'd take our records around to each other's houses and listen to bands like Yes, Emerson lake and Palmer and Deep Purple. The "Bubble Gum" pop bands of the time were definitely not on our playlist, but just like all teenagers I would have my cassette tape recorder by the radio on a Sunday evening when they played the rundown of the weeks top twenty records and record my favourites onto a cassette tape and listen when there was nobody else around.
About 25 years ago when I started playing guitar at the local Medieval Banquets in my hometown I would also be the D.J. for the last hour of the evening. On one particular Saturday night the crowd seemed to be all about the same age as me so I put "Sugar Baby Love" on the turntable and the dance floor was immediately packed with folks singing along with the outrageous falsetto vocal. After that I played the record every week and it was a floor filler every time.
It's party time right now so if you remember this great song why not have a little dance around the kitchen when nobody else is looking.
