A local Samoan tobacco (kipi) cultivator says chewing tobacco can ease toothache pain because its sour, acidic juice helps kill bacteria. Dentists caution there is no proven dental benefit and warn that chewing tobacco carries risks including addiction, gum disease, tooth decay and cancer.
