how to make a comforting and healthy Sorakaya Tomato Pappu (Bottle Gourd & Tomato Dal) in Telugu. Tempered with ghee and hing, this Andhra-style dal is the perfect side dish for rice and roti.
Ingredients / కావలసిన పదార్థాలు:
• Dal (పప్పు): 1 Cup
• Water (నీళ్లు): 4 Cups
• Bottle Gourd (సొరకాయ)
• Green Chillies (పచ్చిమిర్చి)
• Tomatoes (టమాటోలు)
• Salt (ఉప్పు)
• Turmeric (పసుపు): 1/4 Spoon
• Chilli Powder (కారం): 1 Spoon
• For Tempering (పోపు): Ghee, 1/4 sp Mustard seeds, 1/4 sp Cumin, 1/2 sp Urad Dal, 4 Dry chillies, 6 Garlic cloves, Curry leaves, Hing.
Cooking Process:
1. Soak dal for 30 minutes in 4 cups of water.
2. Boil dal and remove the froth. Add chopped bottle gourd and green chillies.
3. In a separate pan, heat ghee and prepare the tempering with spices and garlic.
4. Add tomatoes, salt, turmeric, and chilli powder to the tempering.
5. Add this tempered mixture to the boiling dal and cook for 3 minutes.
