This is an exact reconstruction of all six figures of Martin's "New Polka Quadrille," with all of the repeats by the four couples, danced to the original music by African American composer A.F.R. Conner.
Choreographed only four years after the first-ever polka quadrille, this is an unusually creative quadrille for the time, that often defied conventional expectations. Martin's creativity may have been inspired by the innovative spirit of Henri Cellarius, who published his seminal book La Danse Des Salons the year before, in 1847. The first two figures of this quadrille are mildly unconventional, then Martin's departures from tradition become increasingly creative.
The complete reconstruction can be seen here, with many footnotes to explain the reconstruction choices: https://socialdance.stanford.edu/Syll...
