Can anyone take photos at San Francisco City Hall, or only those getting married there?

A lot of people don’t realize this, but you don’t need any kind of permit, appointment, or payment to take photos or video inside San Francisco City Hall.
That goes for everyone — couples, photographers, videographers, even if you’re just a friend with an iPhone. No approved vendor list, no hidden fees, no one asking why you’re there.
The building is completely public, so as long as you’re inside during open hours, you can shoot: weddings, engagements, graduations, quinceañeras, styled shoots, senior portraits — anything. Even photography gear like lights, softboxes and tripods is totally fine. I don't use bulky equipment, but I've never seen any other photographer have an issue with being able to set it up.
The only time you’d ever need a permit is for a Hollywood-level film crew or drone shoot. For everything else, it’s a free-for-all in the best way possible.
Hope this helps to answer the question of whether anyone can go inside and take photos and videos inside San Francisco City Hall!
