Prime Minister Reviews Progress on Power Sector Reforms and Energy Roadmap

Описание: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level review meeting on ongoing reforms in Pakistan’s power sector. The Prime Minister was briefed on progress under the power sector roadmap, including electricity generation, transmission, privatization of DISCOs and GENCOs, and other structural reforms.

The meeting also reviewed advancements toward the operationalization of a competitive electricity market. It was noted that sustained efforts have resulted in a reduction in line losses compared to the previous year. The Prime Minister was further briefed on the Battery Energy Storage System project, for which the concept clearance proposal has been approved and feasibility studies are currently underway.
