Frugal usage of water by a Sufi saint supposedly made a Sultan commission this stepwell. When Sultan Iltutmish visited Khwaja Qutub-ud-din Bakhtiyar Kaki and found him in a dishevelled state, the Sultan commissioned what is probably the very first stepwell of Delhi, whose high traces of sulphur make it earn its name as well as its reputation of being magical.
This short video explores the finer aspects of this Baoli that is now locked for the fear of people commiting suicides in its once healing waters.
