This 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible is a triple black muscle car convertible with great options and desirable documentation! Although Pontiac kicked-off the muscle car race, Oldsmobile was not far behind when, in mid-1964, it debuted its own performance-oriented package, the "4-4-2" which originally stood for a 4 barrel carburetor, 4 on the floor 4 speed manual transmission, and 2 (dual) exhausts. As the years progressed, the 442 underwent several major body style changes as did the initial “4 barrel, 4 speed, 2 exhaust” nomenclature, to mean different things. In total, Oldsmobile produced less than 3,000 1970 442 Convertible which makes this particular example a very rare and desirable automobile. Additionally, this particular 442 Convertible is a well-documented example. Powering this 442 is a 455 V8 engine fed by an upgraded Edelbrock single 4 barrel carburetor. The 455 V8 is backed by a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission and exhaust exits the big block via a dual exhaust setup. Being that Oldsmobiles were considered more deluxe cars, they generally came (like this one) with many fantastic options! With power steering, maneuvering in and out of a tight parking space at the local car show is almost effortless. Power front disc brakes and power drums in the rear help ensure that you'll be able to bring this 442 to a complete stop much easier. The black vinyl power convertible top is in wonderful condition and it goes up and down with the simple flick of a switch. Riding on a set raised letter BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires mounted on Super Stock II rims, this 1970 Olds 442 has an imposing muscle car look and fantastic ride cruising down the road. The body has been correctly refinished in beautiful Ebony Black paint, accented with white decals on the W25 hood's scoops, completing the exterior look of the car. The interior screams luxury! The front Strato-Bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered in black vinyl. The center console, matching door panels, black carpeting, padded dash with burl grain inserts, and special Custom-Sport 4-spoke steering wheel are in great shape and retain a nice stock appearance. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, fuel gauge, and clock, along with indicator lights for the emergency brake, generator, oil pressure, and engine temperature. The dash is finished with an AM/FM push button radio in the center and a locking glove box on the passenger side.
