This work is a 5-voice fugue written by Bach (1 of 2 in the whole set of 48 prelude and fugues). The prelude leads a sombre and serious mood with calls and answers of a reoccurring idea and beautiful ornaments. The fugue is woven especially stunningly with one subject and 2 countersubjects, but built up in a meditative and reflective character that is somewhat similar to a prayer, a pleading to the divine.
Recorded on February 6th, 2026 at Haus Marteau in Lichtenberg
